The thin film deposition
laboratory is a state-of-the-art
facility specializing in infrared
thin films for high efficiency
anti-reflection coatings, bandpass
filters, and high-vacuum metalized
dewar windows. Unique and customized
designs, such as the filter
wheel to the right, are always
welcome. With over 30 years
of experience in thin film deposition,
the product capability is second
to none.
Mechanical Engineering
The mechanical engineering staff
lays out every lens and system using
solid modeling software, producing
precision-scale drawings. This accuracy
is not only necessary for the construction
of a quality product, but also to
ensure that it fits the customer's
needs exactly. These three-dimensional
textured models, such as the one
below, help eliminate design flaws
and conflicts before costly prototype
and production work is performed.
This model can also be worked up
in plastic and foam so it can be
held and visualized in real life.
Optical Engineering
The optical engineering staff utilizes
the latest optical design software.
This, combined with product development
experience, results in efficient thermal
infrared lens configurations. These
configurations afford optical performance
which meets and exceeds the requirements
of our end users. This capability
allows the Optical Engineers to integrate
their designs with the diamond turning
aspheric manufacturing, producing
minimum element count designs. From
simple objectives to complex zoom
lens assemblies, the solution easily
becomes a manufacturing reality.
Custom design and build to specification
products are available.
3-5µm Lens Systems
This selection of lens assemblies
offers enhancements which permit
the user to interchange lens
assemblies by a simple twist
and click. Most of these assemblies
are fitted with the BAYONET
MOUNT SYSTEM, which is common
to the more popular 3-5µm infrared
camera systems. As with all
the lens products, each unit
is tested to meet a specific
set of specifications. These
lens systems are tested for
the following parameters: effective
focal length, back-working distance,
MTF, transmission verification,
and physical conformity.

8-12µm Lens
Systems
This selection of 8-12µm high
speed lens assemblies are designed
for uncooled focal plane array
thermal applications and offer
enhancements which permit the
user to interchange lens assemblies
by a simple twist and click.
Most of these assemblies are
fitted with the BAYONET MOUNT
SYSTEM (22605 series), which
is common to many uncooled 8-12µm
infrared camera systems. As
with all the lens products,
each unit is tested to meet
a specific set of specifications.
These lenses are tested for
parameters including image quality,
transmission verification, and
physical conformity.

8-12µm, Cooled
Lens Systems
(exterior exit pupil)
This selection of 8-12µm lens assemblies
are designed for long wave cooled focal
plane array systems (i.e. QWIP or MCT)
that require the exit pupil of the lens
to be placed at the cold stop location
in the dewar. Most of these lens assemblies
are fitted with the BAYONET MOUNT SYSTEM
(22188 series), which is common to many
cooled 8-12µm infrared camera systems.
As with all the thermal infrared lens
products, each unit is tested to meet
a specific set of specifications. These
lenses are tested for parameters including
effective focal length, back working distance,
MTF, transmission verification, and physical
conformity.
